My friend and walking partner from the 3 Day in 2006 recently asked me if I had the 3 Day itch yet. My answer is no I don't. I've walked it now 2 years in a row and this year I just don't have it in me. 2006 was just awesome - it rocked! My friend and I had SO much fun together, it was awesome. 2007 was OK. Basically, it sucked. Not the people that I walked with - Colleen, Kim and Tara were awesome. It was the heat! I am horrible in the heat. I could train and train for days and days and be physically fit, but if there's heat and humidity, I'm done! And that's what happened in 2007. Friday and Sunday were hard because of the heat. Saturday was okay because the weather was nice. But the other two days - forget it. So no, the 3 Day itch has not appeared nor will it this year. I look forward to walking for 2 days up in my old stomping ground of NY City!

I got a letter today from the 3 Day asking me to walk again in it this year. It's not for me this year but maybe another year it will be again. They have a DVD out that you can request if you'd like more information on the 3 Day for those that have never walked in it before. You can either go to their website at http://the3day.org or call 800-996-3DAY. And while you're requesting additonal information, if you mention promo code BRCHRH, you'll receive a free Promise Ring. The Promise Rings are really cool too.

I have yet to send out thank you cards to those that donated to the 3 Day this year. I can't believe it's already been almost 2 months since we walked the 3 Day. It feels like it was just yesterday. I bought little pink ribbon pins to send to everyone too. I had actually bought them to send with last years thank you's but only a few got them. Once the holidays are over I'll be sending out the thank you's. Not sure if I'm going to just print up the ones they give you at the 3 Day website or make my own. I'm leaning towards making my own.

Guess this is my last post until next week sometime. I've got a ton of stuff to get done today, one of them includes packing for the weekend. My mom is bringing the bag I'm using and she won't be here until after lunch sometime. I'm just going to lay everything out on my bed just to make sure I have everything. I think I do but I'd rather know I do for sure.
I leave tonight for the hotel. My teammates and I are staying in a hotel tonight right next to where the opening ceremonies will be held tomorrow. It's just easier on everyone involved. Last year Sean dropped us off in the morning and it took him over an hour and a half just to get out of the parking lot. If anyone lives in the area and wants to go to one of the cheering stations please do! There are 2 tomorrow, 2 on Saturday and 1 on Sunday morning. Then the closing ceremonies are Sunday at 5:30. New this year is the 3 Day Webcam. I'm thinking it is of camplife but I'm not 100% sure. You'll be able to view it Friday and Saturday between the hours of 2pm (EST) and 9pm (EST). Ok, off to finish doing laundry, pay some bills and make sure I've got everything I need. Fingers crossed for no rain and cool weather in the Clearwater/St. Pete are this weekend. Right now it's hot and humid outside so it better change overnight! Here's hoping for a blister free weekend!!!!! Monday, October 8

The UPS man was just at my door. He was delivering the last of some stuff that I ordered from the 3Day shop. My car magnet finally came in. So did the tshirt I bought for Sean to wear for the closing ceremony that Sunday. I have the same tshirt as well to wear one of those 3 days. And the tshirts I bought for the kids came as well. They say the same thing that the ones I bought them last year did: "Someone I love walked the 3Day to save lives" only they have the new logo on them. They'll be so psyched when I tell them they finally came. They were worried they wouldn't have them to wear for the closing ceremony that Sunday!

The cheering stations for the Tampa Bay Breast Cancer 3 Day were posted this morning. So, if you live in the area, please come on out and cheer us on. Having walked it last year I know emotional and tiring this walk can get. And having people there to cheer you on can be just the uplift you need to keep walking! Even if they're people you don't know! If you don't live near Tampa, but would still like to show support, go to http://www.the3day.org/ and look to see if there's a walk near you!
Cheering Stations: Available all three days Cheering Stations are a great way to show your support along the route to encourage participants and let them know that you are with them every step of the way. Seeing familiar faces cheering them on can provide that extra burst of energy that gets them to take that next step or go the next mile. Create banners, hold up signs, bring some music and make some noise – anything to make them smile, get energized and keep walking. Note: The “Last Chance Cheering Station” (on Day 3) is your last chance to see your walkers before you are reunited with them at Closing Ceremonies. Day One - Friday, October 19 Mile Marker 4 8:45 am - 10:00 am Episcopal Church of Ascension 701 Orange Ave. Clearwater, FL 33756 Map Mile Marker 13 10:50 am – 2:30 pm Seminole Christian Fellowship 10202 131st. I was just weeding through my emails and I found one that I must have gotten last Wednesday saying I can now go online and complete my first step to checking in for the 3-Day which is to complete my medical history form and waver of liability. You cannot participate in the 3-Day without completing this form. Wow, it's getting so close to the actual weekend of the walk. Once August hits I bet the next few months fly by and it will be time for the walk before I know it! Wednesday, June 13

The 3-Day has changed it's look and I think it looks great! It's in celebration of the fifth anniversary of the Breast Cancer 3-Day. They now have a new logo and bolder colors. The bolder colors are symbolic for the bold steps we all can take in the fight against breast cancer. The colors may have changed but their mission hasn't. Go check out the new colors and tell us what you think!

I got an email last week for the 3 Day Expo that is going to be held the beginning of July. I'm not sure if I'll go. I'll mark it on my calendar so I don't forget, but last year when we went I was only there for about 45 minutes. It's good to go for first timers. I went with Sean and the kids and met Danon there. We got to sample some of the food they'd be serving at the pit stops and check out some cool gear (which you cold also buy), check out the tent we'd be sleeping in and meet some people that had already walked in previous years. If anyone walking in the Tampa Bay 3-Day is interested in going here's some information on it: Sunday, July 1st 1:00pm - 4:00pm Renaissance Vinoy Hotel 501 5th Avenue NE St. Petersburg, Florida 33701 *$5 parking fee in the hotel parking garage. |
