"I finally took my head out of the sand and freed up my nostrils and filled them with good, clean air, and that good clean air was called Doing Something for Someone Else." -Norma Jean McKeldin, diagnosed age 39

View Article  Today's fortune 4/23/08
My fortune for today is kind of fitting.

You have an important new business development shaping up.

This could be very true and I could be starting this with a friend or by myself. I don't know yet. I've asked someone to start it with me but am giving her time to think about it. There's no start up fees involved and it could be a great place to start with what I have in mind. When I go through with it (whether by myself or with my friend) I'll also be using it to fundraise for the Avon Walk. I just need to brainstorm a bit first using my artistic ability and then go from there.

My Team "Black Sheep" for the Avon Walk had their 1st fundraiser this past weekend. I couldn't make it so I wasn't able to reap in the rewards but my teammate/friend Colleen said they did very well. Her and my other teammate Gigi both went and I believe were there (out front of Publix) for 6 hours.(?) And the both made $140 to put towards their goal. Not bad!!!! We're doing another one next month which I will be able to attend and I can't wait! I really need to get on the ball with fundraising!

This past weekend the kids made these really cute Easter baskets using those plastic green strawberry baskets and ribbon. They took the ribbon and wove it through the baskets and they came out so cute! I no have an idea for not only fundraising but making some money as well. I just need to find somewhere that I can buy these baskets in bulk (which I think I already have online) and then find the ribbon I'm looking for and I'll be set!
View Article  February's FUN-draising Tip!
I got this idea below from my February Avon Walk newsletter. Thought it was a cool idea.

Whether your enjoying Cupid’s favorite day with good friends or with a special someone, there are countless ways to use this fine holiday as a means to your fundraising! When you get a chance today, stop by the nearest
convenience store and stock up on some on-sale candy. (Or maybe you still have candy left over from halloween or the holidays! We won’t tell anyone…) It doesn’t have to be specific to Valentine’s day, but one things for certain, chocolate’s always a treat.

Next, using the template below or by creating your own, print out or write up “Telegrams”, cut them up, and stack them up.

Then tomorrow, whether you’re at work, in a meeting, at school, or around town, shoot out an email or make an announcement letting everyone and anyone know that you are cupid for the day and have Valentine’s Day Candy Grams for sale! You can sell them for as much or as little as you want, but make sure you let every one know that the proceeds go torwards your walk! If you have any helpers on board, they can even deliver the candy grams to “secret admirers” for you!
View Article  Church fundraising...
I've recently started going back to church. But not the church I grew up in or was baptized in. A church though where I feel so comfortable in - I feel at home. They've had a sign out front for a while now saying they're relocating. So I started thinking about church fundraising and how it must be hard for them to get money from supporters. The church I go to doesn't have a huge congregation, so I started wondering how they make it week to week.

Picture Perfect Portraits helps churches out when it comes to fundraising. You can offer the families in your church a professional portrait session and at the same time, fundraise for your church. It's so simple to get started: you first designate a coordinator. Then set the date of the photography session. Receive your materials and then sell $5.00 coupons for a 10 x 13 family portrait to raise funds. (100% of the profit from the coupon sales go directly to the church). I think this is an awesome idea!!!!

View Article  Home parties as fundraisers...
Did you know that alot of the home party companies will also help you fundraise? I know Tastefully Simple, Pampered Chef and Party Lite do. I'm not sure about all of the others. I'm already planning on having a Tastefully Simple party here sometime in March. Instead of me getting free stuff for hosting a party, I will be able to put that money towards the Avon 2 Day. I've also contacted a Pampered Chef consultant to have one in May sometime and I might be having a wine tatsing party in February. I'm not sure if the wine tasting can also be a fundraiser. I haven't gotten that far yet with the consultant. But it would be nice if I could.
View Article  Hug My Heels...
I was grocery shopping this morning, and as I always do when I have the time, I browsed through their foot care products. And something caught my eye because it had the pink ribbon it. They're called "Hug My Heels" and are made by Airplus. What they are, are silky smooth heel liners and they come in a pair. So I bought a pair and I'll try them out once I start training again. When I came home I decided to check out their website to see what else they might have and I found out that they support breast cancer research with a donation to the Avon Walk every time someone buys one of their products. I think that's awesome!

I'm going to go through their products and see what else I can find. I remember this past walk in October my heels were killing me. I think one of my teammates were too. Also, the balls of my feet hurt too and I see they have something for that as well. I'll definitely be trying alot of their stuff out!

I was at CafePress.com looking at Ishmael shirts (from the book Ishmael by Daniel Quinn) when I noticed you can sell your own designs on there. It got me to thinking of how I've been wanting to make up my own magnet for my car for this website to promote it, why not also use the same design (like the one I've got for the name of this blog) and also sell it on shirts, mugs, etc.? And use the proceeds towards my fundraising for the Avon Walk? It's worth a try right?
View Article  Create a successfull fundraiser!
I've been doing some online searches trying to come up with ways to fundraise next year for the walk. I don't want to have to go to friends and family again like I have the past two years. Don't get me wrong - they've all been so incredibly awesome. I just feel bad to keep going to them for money. I know it's going towards a good cause, but I still feel bad. So, next year I'm going to do fundraiser upon fundraiser.

I've been wanting to make a car magnet for this website to get it out there. And I found a website that makes custom car magnets. I'd love to do a pink 4 leaf clover and have my sites name in the middle. But big enough for everyone to see. Then they could write it down or remember it (it's not that hard to remember), come here and then possibly donate.

I'm also wondering about doing a fundraiser for Tristan's soccer team. We still need to get money together as a team for the tournaments they'll be in next spring. ABC Marketing can help with fundraising by making car magnets and those silicone bracelets. I could have ones made with the Flames name on it and sell them. That would help! There's at least 12 different competitive Flames teams each with at least 9 kids on them. That just might help us out!

View Article  1 more joins Black Sheep!
We have yet another new member of the Black Sheep Team - Colleen's neighbor (I think right?) Gigi. This is so cool. There's 6 of us now! I just added my mother-in-laws donation to my page this morning. I have yet to fix and tweak my personal donation page but I'll do that after the holidays are over. I'm psyched for next October already!
