View Article  Update on my foot...
I blogged earlier last week about my left foot and how it has a pin in it from bunion surgery when I was 16 and it now looks like the pin is trying to work it's way out of my foot. And it hurts. Well, I found out before I can just go to an orthopedic foot doctor, I first have to go to my regular doctor, pay $20 for the office visit (that's what we have to pay for every office visit) and get a referral. So, basically, I'm paying the $20 for the referral. Does anyone else see something wrong with that? I know there's something wrong with my foot and I'd love to bypass having to go to my regular doc to save time and money and just go directly to the foot guy. But, I can't. Stupid if you ask me!

I guess I better call my regular doctor now to make an appointment so I can possibly get in to see a foot doctor before the kids are done with school for the summer. Going to the doctor with 3 kids is NOT what I call fun.
View Article  YogaToes!
I was just going through my one magazine finding pictures for my visualization board I have yet to complete when I came across an ad for YogaToes. They look SO comfortable! I have to get myself a pair! (Or maybe put on my wish list). And if you use the coupon code RES I found in the magazine as well you get $15.00 off. I love the pink ones.

They're supposed to relax and refresh over worked feet. I wonder how they'd help your feet feel after walking 20 miles in a day. They're also supposed to stretch and strengthen your foot muscles which is also a good thing. I remember the arches in my feet killing me this past October when walking in the 3 Day. I'm wondering if I could get my teammates to buy them too because if you buy more then one pair you get a discount. Maybe I'll wait until after the holidays though befire I ask them all. I know right now can be a crazy time money wise. They're definitely on my list of what I need to get!
View Article  Freeze It!!!!

Having walked in the 3 Day last year, I knew exactly what I needed to go out and get for walking in it again this past October. I ran to the local pharmacy and stocked up on lots of Motrin, LOTS of blister band aids and second skin (for after the blister pops), and a tube of Freeze It. I remembered from last year my knees and my lower back killing me and I wanted to be prepared this year. I also didn't want to stink up the tent this year using one of those other greasy pain relief creams and I knew Freeze It would not do that.

Well, this year the walk was actually worse then last year. It was SO hot and humid - it was unbearable. And you all know when it gets hot and humid your muscles tend to cramp up and ache and scream at you. They definitely did that this year! If you look at the picture below you'll see both myself and my friend and teammate Colleen with our legs wrapped up. My calf felt like it was ripping at one point and her shin splints and knee ligament were killing her.

Luckily though, we had a tube of the Freeze It Gel in our packs so whenever we stopped, we rubbed it on. And what was nice about it was no one knew we had used it. Freeze It doesn't have that awful, old people smell to it like some of the other pain relief creams do. So we didn't stink. And, it's not greasy so we weren't constantly feeling like we had to wash our hands.

I'm walking again next year in another breast cancer walk and you can bet that I will definitely have a tube of Freeze It with me! How about giving two people who are walking for a good cause (and will also need it for training before the walk) some tubes of Freeze It????

View Article  I lost my toenail...
Almost one month to the day from when the 3 Day started here in Tampa and I lost my one toenail this morning. It's the one that had the huge blister right underneath. I knew it was going to go, just wasn't sure when. The skin around it had been peeling like crazy because the blister popped, so I was picking at it this morning (sorry if that's a bit TMI), and it just kind of fell off with the skin. It looks creepy looking. It's the toe on my right foot next to my big toe. It doesn't hurt but I can feel that the toenail is gone.
View Article  Natural Breast Enlargement...
I recently came across this website of natural herbs which also talked about herbs for women which would also act as a natural breast enlargement. I think that's so much better to go that way then having them done and having fakes ones put in. So much can go wrong and nowadays you're constantly hearing all of these horror stories of women now having problems.

These Breast Active pills are a safe alternative for breast enhancement. They are an alternative to the dangerous and costly breast enlargement surgery. They are a natural product that will help to increase the size of your breasts naturally. The pills are effective and safe to use. They are also risk free and very inexpensive. There are bonuses when ordering the pills as well. If you order the maximum package you will also get 2 months of free Breast Actives. The pills also come with a six month money back guarantee.

You also won't have those ugly scars that you can get from surgery. Or don't have to have any embarrassing doctors visits. Those are other things to think about when considering which method to use. There are many women out there who are embarrassed because they have small breasts. And sometimes padded bras or those push-up bras just don't cut it. There's also women who, after having kids now have saggy breasts. These pills can help you too. This non-surgical breast enahancement has been on national television programs such as CNN Headline News, The Montel Williams Show, Dateline NBC and 20/20. It also has been in some major circulation national newspapers such as USA Today who can't say enough about the benefits of this new breast enhancement technique. Don't be embarrassed anymore. Get your Breast Actives today!

View Article  A week later...
It's been a little over 1 week since the 3 Day and my feet are ok, my knees are ok (they were bad after last years 3 Day) but my right hip has been killing me! I noticed during the event that my hips this year were hurting more then usual. But I thought the pain would go away once the 3 Day was over and I came home and stopped walking so much. No such luck. My hip just won't stop aching and now my lower back is hurting too. I'm hoping it will eventually go away and I won't have to go to the doctors for it. But I have noticed I've been walking with a limp - I guess over compensating for my hip?
View Article  My feet after the 3 Day...
My feet actually weren't as bad this year as they were last year. Last year I had like 5-6 blisters on each foot! Both of my pinky toes were done - had two blisters each. And I had huge, quarter size blisters on the side under each big toe. And then even more all over my foot.

This year it's not so bad. My left pinky toe did again have 2 blisters. And I think I'll be losing that toenail within a few months. The medic at the lunch stop popped the two of them for me because they were horrible looking and hurt.

On my right foot, my toe next to my big toe had a blister underneath my entire toenail. The medic also popped that one as well. That one did get infected and my doctor gave me an antibiotic to take which helped! Otherwise he was going to have to cut it more - EW! That toenail I will definitely be losing. It's already lifting up a bit and looking kind of yucky. Other then that though my feet are fine!
View Article  You are cleared to check in for the 3-Day
Just after I wrote the post below about sending in my medical release form for the 3Day I checked my email to find an email from the TampaBay Coaches saying I am now cleared by their medical staff and I can now do the online check in process whenever I'm ready. There are 5 steps I have to do when completeing the online check in process:

1. View the safety video and take a short safety quiz.

2. Review your fundraising summary.
If you have not yet reached your fundraising minimum, you have plenty of options. All donations will continue to post to your fundraising account as they are received, up until the event and even afterwards. (Please note that mailed donations can take four weeks to post to your fundraising account.)

In order to complete online check-in, you will be given the opportunity to make a delayed self-donation. A delayed self-donation will only be processed if you still have an outstanding fundraising balance four weeks AFTER the 3-Day has ended and only for the remaining balance. Click the “delayed self-donation” button to choose this option. Alternatively, you can make an “instant self-donation” which would be charged immediately to the credit card you authorized for payment.

If you would rather wait until you have reached your fundraising minimum before completing check-in, simply exit the program and log back in at another time. When you log in, you will automatically be taken to the step where you left off. Remember, you will want to complete online check-in by October 3 in order to have your event credential mailed to you before the event (see the Event Credentials paragraph below.)

3. Confirm meal service preferences.

4. Purchase towel service (optional).

5. Select your tentmate.
Select the person you plan to tent with or choose to be randomly assigned a tentmate of the same gender. If you are a member of a team, and complete online check-in before September 19, you will be automatically assigned neighboring tents with your team members.
View Article  Blisters...
I've found some blister prevention patches that I'm definitely going to buy called ENGO. They are supposed to prevent blisters by preventing friction from rising to blister-causing levels. They also give immediate relief of blister pain for those that already have a blister. And they're supposed to be long lasting-lasting 4-6 weeks. All you do is select a patch based on the area you need covered, peel ENGO from it's backing and apply the adhesive side t dry footwear, socks, insoles or equipment. These are a definite must have for this October!

These little (or big) guys were what caused me the most pain on the 3-Day last year. I had like 5-6 blisters on each foot by the beginning of the 3rd day. And they HURT! I had two on each pinky toe: one on the tip of the toe and one on the bottom. And when they finally burst (while I was walking on the 3rd day) it felt like my toenails were coming completely off. So, I'm going to try to prevent blisters from happening again this October during the 3-Day but I've also been reading up alot on Foot Pain Relief. Hoping to not get blisters this year like I did last year.
View Article  Lost yet another toenail....
Ok, so you all know how I lost my left pinky toenail about 2-3 months after the 3 day right? Well, the beginning of Feb. Sean and I went to NJ for the weekend to visit friends and one day my bf and I went for a pedicure. I had this one toenail on my left toe that looked funny looking ever since the 3 day but just wouldn't fall off. It looked like it wanted to, but didn't. Well, the day of the pedi half of it fell off. So the count was now up to 1 1/2 toenails lost from the walk.

Well, today it's up to 2 1/2. My other pinky toenail fell completely off this morning. No warning, nothing. I did have awful blisters on both pinky toes, top, bottom, all around after the walk so maybe it just took THAT long for it to fall off? Not sure, but it's now very freaky looking. LOL
