"I finally took my head out of the sand and freed up my nostrils and filled them with good, clean air, and that good clean air was called Doing Something for Someone Else." -Norma Jean McKeldin, diagnosed age 39

View Article  25 Ways to Make a Difference...
I came upon this blog yesterday called 25 Ways to Make a Difference and I was in complete awe! It is written by an 11 year old girl named Laura (who gets help from her mother of course). She is only in 5th grade and she started this blog in honor of the memory of her grandfather who lost his battle with brain cancer. I was reading through some of her posts and like I said above - I am in complete awe of this girl. I think what she's doing is awesome. With your help, she will hopefully win the title Best Charity Blog for the month of May over at the Bloggers Choice Awards. If you have a second, please go over and vote for her now.
View Article  "Our 3 Day"
I came upon another 3 Day website the other day and got some great fundraising tips. The website is called Our 3 Day and it's a blog run by two women who are walking in the Breast Cancer 3 Day in Dallas this year. They've made some great looking cookies and cupcakes for fundraisers. I always love finding other 3 Day blogs like this one. You can always find fresh fundraising ideas, plus I just like reading them as well so I was sure to add this one to my google reader!

My friend Jenn and I started a new blog this morning called Soul Searching Sisters. "We are two women who decided that there was more to life than what we were experiencing. This is our blog dedicated to our spiritual journey. We welcome you and hope that our discoveries become yours!"

Won't you come and join us?
View Article  From Margate to the Maasai Mara update....
Back in January I wrote a post about a fellow blogger that I'd found who was trekking the foothills of the Maasai all for breast cancer. He's from the UK and his name is Jeremy Jacobs. The trek took place over 9 days in February and he raised £3,660.00 for the cause! That's awesome! He's now been blogging about the trek and sharing pictures with us all. The pictures are beautiful and his story amazing! What an inspiration! And I thought 3 days and 60 miles was bad. I can't even imagine what my feet would look like after 9 days!

Jeremy Jacobs is a fellow blogger and also walking for breast cancer. He will be walking for 8 days in the UK from Margate to Maasai Mara. He has a blog to keep track of all his thoughts, and his training and fundraising just like I've been doing with this one. He walks in honor of his sister Jackie, wife and mother of 3, who lost her battle with breast cancer August 14th, 1988.

His fundraising target is £3,500.00 and currently he is at £2,989.08. So close. The walk takes place this February, 2007. He will be walking 125 miles over 8 days. So please, I know it's so close to the holidays being over, but if you have any cash leftover, please consider donating to such a great cause!
View Article  More 3 day blogs...
I've found some more 3 day blogs just by reading some other ones. I found the Susan G. Komen 3 Day Breast Cancer Walk and the Breast Cancer 3 Day (which hasn't been updated lately) and also one about the Avon Breast Cancer Walk up in NY this past Oct. I also found one that has some good fundraising tips. I also found a Breast Cancer 3 Day Wrap Up that was cool to read.

Since walking in the 3 day I have found some great 3 day blogs. Some are about just training for a walk and some are about surviving breast cancer. But they are great to read. It's great getting tips from others that have walked the walk before, even though I just walked it myself.....there are some things you just forget about or don't think of.

My friend Colleen has a blog called 3 Day Mom and I read that on an almost daily basis. Someone else that I just met online also has a 3 day blog which is simlar to mine. Her name is Dawn and her blog is called Dawn Fetter's 3 Day Walk for Breast Cancer.

Target also has a blog and i just found out through reading Colleen's that they also support breast cancer research.

There's another blog I read about a breast cancer victory. If you have a moment please go to her site. She's an inspiration!
