View Article  What a FUN week!
The kids had soccer camp this week and while they were out on the fields learning new techniques, I was chatting with friends and having a blast. Alot of the time was soccer talk, but about half wasn't. We talked about everything from vacations this summer, to committee members for soccer, to the price of gas (and how it sucks) to the meanings of names. You name it we probably talked about it. I had a really great week - like I do every year at soccer camp.

One thing I noticed though was the amount of parents that didn't stay. Kind of sad if you ask me. I can see when your kids are older, but there were ALOT of kids Kieran's age (6) that had parents just drop them off, leave and not come back until 3 hours later when camp was over. I don't get that - I seriously don't. It's really sad if you ask me. There were probably about 50 kids in all and I think 5-8 of us stayed the entire time all week. What is up with that???????
View Article  Payday Loan...
At Tristan's end of seaosn soccer party last Friday the parents were all talking about how the amount of what it's going to cost per player for competitive soccer is going up this coming season. And it's going up at least $150-$200 per player! It's going to cost us over $1000 since both Tristan and Caelie will be playing. I can't even think about when Kieran is old enough to be on a competitive team! And by then the cost will have gone up more I'm sure.

There is one family from Tristan's team who is going to have 3 on competitive teams this coming season. And she was saying how they might have to take out a Pay Day Loan just to pay the first inital payment. I don't blame them! I was telling her she should try paydayloansmania.com since I've heard they offer fast online payday advances. Luckily, this year the league is going to have it so you can put down like $250 starting off and then you have to have the rest like 2 months later. That's even a bit steep if you ask me. You would think if a family had more then one kid playing they'd offer a sibling discount, but no, they don't!
View Article  Football...
A few weeks back was the NFL Football draft right? Did anyone happen to sit their and watch the entire thing? My brother used to - not sure if he still does. He'd make sure he was all set beforehand, have a pen and paper to keep track and would literally sit there and watch the whole thing!!!! Me? No, I didn't watch one minute of it. I love football, but not that much. I figure once it's done I can go to the computer and see who my favorite team just got. It's funny because when it comes to making our football picks for the football pool we're always both in, we go about that differently too. He reads the stats, sees who is hurt, etc. and goes from there. I just go down the line and go by the spread and if I think they can do it or not. It usually takes me about 2 minutes to do my picks. I'm sure it takes my brother longer.

Football season will be here before you know it. Which reminds me, I need to sign our youngest up for flag football by June 1st! (They play in the fall.)

I believe the NFL draft wasn't too long ago right? And pretty soon, you'll all be making our nfl football picks for any fantasy leagues you might be in. The past 3 years now I've run one and we've had a blast! Maybe this year I'll win it again like I did two years ago.

Sean's already talking smack about his Jets. I keep telling him he should keep his mouth shut. Every year before the season starts he'll start saying "This is the year. My Jets will go all the way" and what happens every year? They definitely don't go all the way. He does this with baseball too. You'd think he'd learn!
View Article  New York Yankees Spring Training...
I've been looking at the Yankees Spring Training Schedule and I'd love to take Tristan to see them. We live right here in Tampa so going there would be a breeze. Their spring training camp is literally like a twenty minute drive from here, that's all.

My one cousin is a HUGE Yankees fan and last spring paid a certain amount of money to actually play with some of the Yankees players. That was his birthday and Christmas gift all wrapped in one. He had an absolute blast and said anyone that's a Yankees fan HAS to do that at least once in their life. My family (I mean myself, my brother, my mom and my dad) are all Yankees fans. I grew up in New Jersey so it was either the Yankees or The Mets. Yankees won out by a long shot! This past summer my parents, my brother and I took Tristan to see the Yankees play here in Tampa. It was a great game and the look on Tristan's face when we he saw the field as we walked to our seats was priceless. He had so much fun and definitely wants to go back again next year.
View Article  Out of shape...
I played in a friendly soccer game tonight of parents against Tristan's traveling team and am now hurting! I feel so old (and I'm only 36 years young). We were up there playing for an hour and a half and it was hot. My toe that lost the toenial is looking pretty angry right about now and is letting me know it isn't happy with me. My right hip is clicking and hurting too. I'm a mess (and need to get in shape!)
View Article  Soccer camp....
So, everyone that knows us knows we are THE soccer family. We live, breathe and eat soccer. 100%! Tristan is on a traveling soccer team whose season started last July and is still going on. Caelie and Kieran were both in the rec league this year which lasted from Dec. to Feb. And for the month of March Tristan and Caelie will be in a soccer clinic which meets once a week for 4 weeks. And then the week after school is over all 3 kids will be going to the British Soccer Camp here in Wesley Chapel. We had thought of keeping Tristan out of that one and sending him to the one at USF which is the week after that and is supposed to have great goalie training as well, but it's ALOT more money and we've already spent ALOT of money on soccer this year since July. An insane amount actually.
Today we got in the mail a flyer for yet another soccer camp here at St. Leo University and it's about the same amount as the USF one BUT the plus is that they have a sleep away camp JUST for goalies! But you have to be 10 and it's $390. OUCH! I think being this year Tristan is still only 9 we're just going to stick with the British camp. Maybe next year (and that's a BIG maybe) if he's still really into being the goalie and grows a bit we'll do the USF one. We'll see.
