last week. I had promised Kieran a bike ride one day after school last week so we took one around the block. It was the first time I had walked since the 3 day. It felt good to be walking again. I actually miss it. Kieran got a bit tired so we took a short cut and came home sooner then I had wanted, but it was still a nice walk. My ankle is still hurting and is still swollen otherwise I'd be out there right now. The weather is beautiful!

Since I was I guess 15 years old, I know the importance of drinking water. I am supposed to drink at least 8 cups a day. Just like everyone else is supposed to as well for health reasons. I also have another reason....I have bad kidneys. I've had severe kidney infections before to the point I was hospitalized. I have 7 kidney stones (at least I think they're still there). 5 in my right and 2 in my left (or is it the other way around). I've been in and out of NYU and had every conceivable test done. From Cat Scans, to MRI's, to IVP's, to Laporoscopy's to just play old ultrasounds. At the time that they found all this out there was no way to get the stones out...to do so would mean to slice the kidney many times because their loaction was in the spongey part of the kidney. I haven't been back to Dr. Gilbert at NYU in years, but have had a number of kidney infections. They seem to come more in the fall and I wonder if there's a correlation between my allergies (which bother me more in the fall) and the infections.
Anyway, my kidney is hurting me now. Nothing too bad, but I know it's there. Need to start drinking more water and go and get some cranberry juice.

yesterday on the NY City Avon Walk next October. It came with a flyer and even a DVD to watch. Think I'll watch it today after I drop Kieran off the school.
I REALLY want to crew for this. I'm hoping my friend Kim wants to too. Crew members don't have to raise any money, but if my fundraising for the 3 Day goes well, I could always put some money towards the Avon walk. And crew members have to be there the day before which is fine, Sean will just have to take a day off from work or maybe my mom would watch the kids for me. Gotta talk it over more with Sean and Kim and see. Tuesday, November 28

is killing me. Ever since Sunday morning. I don't know what I've done to it either. But I've obviously sprained it as it's all swollen and quite painful. It hurts through the foot too, don't know how else to explain it. I haven't been wearing any uncomfortable shoes so that's not it. One of those enigma's I guess.

I got them in the mail today!!!!! YAY! I can start sending them out. Hmmmmm, should I put some in along with our Christmas cards you think? Or is that too much being everyone just will have spent money on gifts? I do know alot of them are being mailed to Ireland! AGAIN! This time with better results hopefully.

I've found some more 3 day blogs just by reading some other ones. I found the Susan G. Komen 3 Day Breast Cancer Walk and the Breast Cancer 3 Day (which hasn't been updated lately) and also one about the Avon Breast Cancer Walk up in NY this past Oct. I also found one that has some good fundraising tips. I also found a Breast Cancer 3 Day Wrap Up that was cool to read.

as in toenails that is. Over a month later and I lost another toenail....the angry looking one. Didn't lose all of it though, just half. I was cutting my toenails and it just kind of....fell off. LOL Sorry if that's a bit TMI.
My feet are slowly healing. Not ready yet to go for a much needed pedicure but slowly getting there. Hopefully soon because they're driving me nuts!

I got the information I requested for the Avon Walk in NY City October of 2007. It's going to be Oct. 6-7. I've decided I'm definitely not walking in it, but crewing would be something I'd love to do. My friend Kim asked for information on it as well so we could do it together. It would be alot of fun and is for a good cause. I'd love to be on the other side of a walk...meaning the crewing side. Being I'm walking in the 3 Day Oct. 19-21 with the Yip Yap Girls I figure crewing would be better for me and my feet. Maybe one year I'll walk in two walks, as long as they're not in the same month. :)

Since walking in the 3 day I have found some great 3 day blogs. Some are about just training for a walk and some are about surviving breast cancer. But they are great to read. It's great getting tips from others that have walked the walk before, even though I just walked it myself.....there are some things you just forget about or don't think of.
My friend Colleen has a blog called 3 Day Mom and I read that on an almost daily basis. Someone else that I just met online also has a 3 day blog which is simlar to mine. Her name is Dawn and her blog is called Dawn Fetter's 3 Day Walk for Breast Cancer. Target also has a blog and i just found out through reading Colleen's that they also support breast cancer research. There's another blog I read about a breast cancer victory. If you have a moment please go to her site. She's an inspiration! Wednesday, November 15

So, it's been a month since the 3 day and both knees are still hurting. Even moreso from chasing the dog around the house. And then of course the playing soccer with the kids......I'm sure that doesn't help any. Can't give that up though.....the soccer......c'mon, this is the Spicer family! Live, breathe, eat SOCCER! Wish I could give up chasing the dog but that's next to impossible when you've got a 4 month old puppy who likes to chew on almost anything!
Other then my knees hurting I'm good. My pinky toenail is starting to grow back....Caelie keeps checking on that for me making sure it's ok. Once my feet fully heal I'm off to get a pedicure using a GC I got for my birthday! Hoping that's soon because my feet look pretty rough! |
