Is the 4th of July and I cannot wait. We're going to have a blast up at my parents house and may even get to ride on their new boat. Now that I can't wait for and neither can the kids. It's going to be a weekend of family, fun, lots of food and great times! Speaking of food, my mom called me yesterday to get some recipes: a dip, a desert and a main meal. I won't be surprised if I come home 5 pounds heavier after this weekend. She also said she's put some of her finest California wines in the frig to chill and bought some beer for the guys. I'm just looking forward to spending time with them since we haven't been up to their house in months and really haven't spent any time with them since before they left on their boat trip. They were here last week but they were going back and forth between my house and my brothers and it was only for 3 days so we didn't see them too much.

I'm sure more great memories are going to be made this weekend!

is the main reason I started walking in Breast Cancer Walks. About 4 years ago she was diagnosed with breast cancer. She is now proudly a breast cancer survivor and has been cancer free for 3 years! I just talked to her yesterday and she went last week for her yearly mammogram and will find out the results this Thursday. She says she knows it will come back fine and isn't worried. But if everyone could just please say a little prayer we'd appreciate it! I'm sure it will come back fine too, but saying a little prayer never hurt anyone!

Last week while the kids were playing at soccer camp, some of the other moms and myself sat around talking about everything and anything. And, because most of us are in our 30's, the topic of "which is the top wrinkle cream out there in the market today" came up. I've bought some but have yet to use it. And not because I don't think I don't have wrinkles because I know I do. Just because I keep forgetting to use it. So I more or less listened when this topic came up then talked. I learned about which ones are the best and worth their amount of money and which ones don't work at all. I was told to give it some time before you see any results - don't use it one night and expect a miracle over night in other words. I guess maybe if I actually take it out of the closet, take it out of it's box and leave it by the sink then maybe I'll remember to actually use it! You think?

The kids had soccer camp this week and while they were out on the fields learning new techniques, I was chatting with friends and having a blast. Alot of the time was soccer talk, but about half wasn't. We talked about everything from vacations this summer, to committee members for soccer, to the price of gas (and how it sucks) to the meanings of names. You name it we probably talked about it. I had a really great week - like I do every year at soccer camp.

One thing I noticed though was the amount of parents that didn't stay. Kind of sad if you ask me. I can see when your kids are older, but there were ALOT of kids Kieran's age (6) that had parents just drop them off, leave and not come back until 3 hours later when camp was over. I don't get that - I seriously don't. It's really sad if you ask me. There were probably about 50 kids in all and I think 5-8 of us stayed the entire time all week. What is up with that???????

and learned just how out of shape I am! The kids had soccer camp every morning this week up at the local park, so on Tuesday I thought I'd walk with my two friends. There were of course 2 things I didn't think of beforehand: #1 that they both walk FAST (like power/speed walkers) and #2 I'm out of shape. Not to mention that it's been 90 something degrees all week. So I walked a total of a mile and a half Tuesday morning. About halfway through I told my friends to just walk on and I'd meet back up with them at camp to chat. I just couldn't keep up. And you know what I noticed yesterday? That the bump on my left foot that I think could be the pin popping out, (where I had bunion surgery many years ago) has gotten bigger. I know - I need to get to the foot doctor and soon!

This week not only have we all been eating healthier, but are trying to live healthier all around. A friend of mine told me about this EcoQuest website where you can discover some awesome deals on healthy products for your home. There's such things as fry pans, tooth brushes and tooth paste. Or, if you're looking for things under food and nutrition there's EVOO as Rachel Ray would call it (extra virgin olive oil of course). They also sell dust mite free matress protectors or dust mite free pillow covers - something my allergy ridden kids could use. Some of their electronics include fans, steamers and even a coffee maker. And if you're a coffee lover like I am they sell some great Rainforest coffee. Then of course they also have a line of beauty products such as hand wash, bath salts and facial cleanser. And that's just naming a few.

If you're looking to live healthier, EcoQuest Marketplace is to the place to go.

This week, every morning while my kids were playing soccer, I was sitting up there watching them, talking to other moms and finding out about some great stuff. And, in return, I gave them a few pointers as well. For instance, at one point we were talking about how we're stay at home moms and how we refuse to put our kids in child care to go to work. It's important to us that we're home in the morning to see them off at the bus and then at home when they get off the bus. Plus, to be honest, for me to put all 3 in some kind of child care while I was working wouldn't be worth it - think about it - I'd be working for the chld care alone. Kind of dumb don't you think? Plus, that's just not me. So, I told them how I blog and get paid for it and I told them all about the other Marketing moms that are out there and they were all so interested. So this weekend I have to get all the information together I have such as all the different companies that give me opportunities to blog about and get paid for and then also, for some, how to start a blog. When I first told them how much I've made they all got silent and I don't think they all believed me. But as I kept talking they all became interested and kept asking question after question. It felt good to pass this information along, especially since I know some of them are in the same boat as I am with one or two kids on a competitive soccer team. I'm off to gather all that info right now and send it along.

I heard a story the other day that was kind of sad but ended in a good way. I can't remember if it was on the news, if I read it in the newspaper or a friend told me about it. It was about an elderly person who has alzheimers and walked out of their house and was lost for about 12 hours. His daughter had come by his house to visit with him and he was gone. The car was still in the garage and the house/car keys were on the kitchen table. But he was nowhere to be found in the house or around the yard. So she figured he'd just gone for a walk - something he did daily. But after 3 hours went by and he hadn't come home yet she started getting worried. She called the local police station hoping they could help. She also called the local hospital to see if he was there and no luck. Luckily, he had been wearing his medical id which had his name, her phone number and that he had Alzheimers written on it. Just as she was about to go out and start driving around her husband called. Apparently he had walked 5 miles to a grocery store and when a clerk saw him wandering around the store looking lost, he pulled him aside and saw the medical ID and called the number. When he called he got the huband who then called his wife. She was so relieved to hear he was okay.

I wish they had something like that back when my Nana was alive. She had alzheimer's in her early 60's and it got really bad right before she died. She left their apartment a few times and would be gone for hours. I remember how nerve wracking it was wondering if she was okay. I think these medical ID's are an awesome idea!!!! Every alzheimers patient should wear one!

Now that I've taken about 10 pounds off of me after chopping all of my hair off, I could still lose some more weight. I've always felt if I have short hair, I have to not be fat. And I feel fat and look fat so I need to start eating healthier and working out. I've thought of using one of my brothers stair lifts or maybe just walking on my treadmill to start off. I do have a ton of workout DVD's I should start using too. I actually have enough so that I don't have to do the same workout routine day in and day out. It's just finding the time to do them. I know, I know, that's an excuse. A really good one though. ;) I guess I could get up earlier in the day and workout before the kids wake up. But then I'm always worried I'll wake them up by doing that and then the day will just drag on and on because everyone's been awake so early. I know, another excuse! I will get started though - even if it's eating healthier first.

What you've all been waiting for!

Drumroll please!!!!!

First, I have to say, I was THE HIT of the salon this morning. I walked in and in front of about 8 women told them what I was doing (as far as chopping it all off and donating it) so from then on I had everyone in the salon's attention. They all watched as she chopped off my ponytail. Then as I walked through the salon for them to wet it so she could style it they all oohed and aahed. They even watched as she styled it and when I was done, they all loved it and congratulated me on a job well done.

And now, without further adieu, the pictures! Now remember, I'd never been to this salon before! And those highlights you see in my hair as she's cutting it, are my REAL natural highlights! I haven't died my hair in over 4 years, maybe more. I can't wait to rewash it and style it myself!

I decided to put it in a slideshow for easier viewing and to take up less space on here. For those of you that I sent a picture to via cell phone - disregard that picture, it came out horrible! It looks so much better in person!

Did you know that USA Network's new original series In Plain Sight premiers June 1st which is this Sunday? I am so psyched. I've been watching the ads for this show for what seems like forever and it looks like a show I could get into! For those that haven't seen the ads for it yet (how I don't know), it's a new series about two US Marshalls whose jobs are to protect Federal Witnesses from people who want them dead. Hence the name, In Plain Sight. That's exactly what they do with the witnesses: hide them in plain sight.

After reading over the characters bios I think I can relate mostly to Mary. Not the being shot at, having to hide from the bad guys aspect. But the having to be many different people at any given time aspect. At any given time I am a mother, wife, friend, sister, daughter, neighbor, team mom, teachers aide, taxi driver, cook, booboo healer, writer, psychologist so to speak, etc. You catch my drift I'm sure. There was a time I could have related to her Mary's sister Brandi in that I was always falling for the wrong guy!!!

In Plain Sight - Sunday, June 1st! You know what I'll be watching!

The beginning of this month, I took my daughter to get her haircut and we then donated it to Pantene Beautiful Lengths so they could make hair pieces for women who are suffering from cancer. Back in December Caelie decided she wanted to do this so we've been growing her hair for a while now.

Today is my turn. I had decided with her, back in December to do the same thing. Right now, the length of my hair is down past the middle of my back. It's long! I've picked out a style that I want so now let's just hope I like it when it's done and don't come home wearing a baseball cap. I have to be out in public tonight you know!
Savings accounts...

It took Sean and I a good while to open up a savings account and actually be able to put money in it. Even now just because we have it doesn't mean there's always money in it. But at least it's there. We've thought of opening up another one at another bank so it wouldn't be so easy to have access to our money and then we'd put money in it for vacations and things like that. After looking at all of the different banks I've narrowed it down to Wamu and we just might open up a Savings Account there. I know a few people who have accounts there and love it.

Some of Wamu's benefits and features that we like are the fact that it's got free online banking. That is a must have these days! They also have free electronic statements. The one thing that might be hard for us is you have to have a minimum balance of $300 each day to avoid a monthly service charge of $40. But, if you open up an online savings account along with a Wamu Checking Account there is no monthly service charge as long as you keep both accounts open. That's got me thinking. We could do that too and make that checking account one for bills that we pay quarterly or maybe even just for our mortgage since that bill alone is huge.

Another nice option they provide is signing up for overdraft protection. With this, if you use more money then is in your checking, it automatically gets taken out of your savings to make sure it's there. And of course you also have easy access to your money by using ATM's.

Wamu seems like the way to go!

The kids and I were up at the fields tonight for Tristan's competitive soccer tryouts. So of course I brought my new pink "soccer chair" that has the pink ribbon on it. The kids had gotten it for me for mother's day because the chairs we've been using the past 2 years are kind of falling apart.

After tryouts were over and we were walking back to our car a woman came over to me and asked me where I'd gotten my chair. I had to ask the kids since they had gone out with daddy to get it and we found out they got it at Dicks' Sporting Goods. It was then that she told me she's walking in the 3 Day this year and it's her 2nd time walking and she's been looking for a chair just like this one. We chatted for a little and then I wished her luck on the walk.

It's so cool meeting other walkers that way!

My youngest needs a new bed!

My poor little guy needs a new bed. When we first moved here he was using Tristan's old one which was made of wood, but it was falling apart. We had originally gotten it from someone else years ago so all told, I'm not sure exactly how old it was. But the wooden slats holding the matress in just weren't holding up anymore so before anyone got hurt we threw it out. Then there was the problem of what can he sleep in now being we didn't have money at the time to go out and buy him a new one. So, what we did was this: Caelie had a bunk bed in her room which had a twin on top and a fold out double futon on the bottom. We took the top of her bunk off (because she wasn't using it - it was "too hot up there") and let her use the bottom futon to sleep on. And we gave Kieran the top part. And it's working fine but it looks horrible. Because it was the top of a bunk bed it has railings which kind of make it look like a hospital bed. And it's made of metal not wood so it looks even worse. I have the hardest time getting in and out of that bed just to read a book to him at night. He's young so right now he doesn't mind it. But I can't stand looking at it anymore - it's an eyesore to me.

So we now have the chore of looking at Toddler Beds for him and we'll give the bed he's using now back to Caelie and she'll have her full bunk bed back. Or, we just might give the entire bunk bed to Kieran and get Caelie a full size bed and make her room the so called guest room when guests arrive. I've also thought of giving the bunk to Kieran and then getting a bunk for Caelie that has room underneath it for a desk or a doll house, etc. Of course we have a spending limit on the amount we can afford to spend on a new bed so that might hinder us a bit. But we should probably get a move on when it comes to looking for something!

I was looking through all of the coupons last weekend from Sundays paper and I came across one that had an ad for Collectibles Today. The figurine caught my eye because it is called Driven By Hope and it's of Maxine the Mouse driving a pink motorcycle with the pink ribbon all over it and the mouse. For only $19.95 it's really cute. And the best part is that a portion of the proceeds from the sale of this figurine will be donated to help in the fight against breast cancer. It actually reminds me of someone I know who has walked in two 3 day walks and is walking again this year as well AND loves to ride on the back of her husbands motorcycle.

This coming Saturday I'm supposed to stand out front of Publix with two of my teammates so we can hopefully each raise money for the Avon Walk this coming October. I haven't done much fundraising yet and I really ned to get on the ball. I'm hoping I can make it so I can get started. But I might have to stay home depending on how Sean feels after Friday and his "surgery". He's supposed to take it easy all weekend. But, being our kids are of the ages where they're pretty independent when it comes to going to the bathroom and eating he should be okay.

Las Vegas AND golf?

The other night Sean and I were talking about how much fun it would be to go to Las Vegas with our good friends from New Jersey. Without kids of course! We would have such a blast! Neither couple is really into gambling. But I know we'd have fun nonetheless. I'd love to go just to see it out there since I've never been. I've heard the hotels are awesome and I could see myself totally spending an entire day at the pool relaxing. Another day we could spend sight seeing. And then maybe one day we'd hit the slots but that's about it for me. Sean's talked about golfing there too if we ever went. He says you can get some great Las Vegas golf vacations packages at lasvegasgolfing.com. I never knew that. And from what he says they're really affordable too. I don't even think of golf when I think of Las vegas. So maybe one day, if we ever go, Kim and I could go shopping while the boys played golf. Although I don't think Kevin plays. There's always a first though right? And I bet in Las Vegas people find they do alot of "firsts".

At Tristan's end of seaosn soccer party last Friday the parents were all talking about how the amount of what it's going to cost per player for competitive soccer is going up this coming season. And it's going up at least $150-$200 per player! It's going to cost us over $1000 since both Tristan and Caelie will be playing. I can't even think about when Kieran is old enough to be on a competitive team! And by then the cost will have gone up more I'm sure.

There is one family from Tristan's team who is going to have 3 on competitive teams this coming season. And she was saying how they might have to take out a Pay Day Loan just to pay the first inital payment. I don't blame them! I was telling her she should try paydayloansmania.com since I've heard they offer fast online payday advances. Luckily, this year the league is going to have it so you can put down like $250 starting off and then you have to have the rest like 2 months later. That's even a bit steep if you ask me. You would think if a family had more then one kid playing they'd offer a sibling discount, but no, they don't!

Last year this time Sean and I were looking at new cars for me and we found one! Car shopping is one thing I hate doing! The haggling back and forth with the car dealers, salesmen, etc. It gives me such a stomach ache! But last year went really well and we found a dealer that we love! I got the car I wanted and it still had the warranty on it so that I can go and get free oil changes, etc.

The only other thing I hate doing besides car shopping is trying to find Bad Credit Auto Loans. That was tough because Sean's credit was poor. But we found out that even if you do have bad credit, finding a <a href="Car Loan isn't as bad as you might think. Luckily our dealer helped us get one. But, if you are looking for one and don't have the help of a dealer, you should try CompleteLoanSource.com. From what I've heard they offer a great source of car financing for people all over the nation. And you can apply for new or used car loans all from the comforts of your own home - online! They will help you find a car loan that will suit your needs regardless of what your credit situation is.

Yesterday I walked for an hour for the first time in a really long time. I've been so lazy with exercising that yesterday I just went and did it. And then after walking I did my 5 Day Abs DVD and today I'm feeling it. But it's a good feeling! It's knowing that I did something and I'm hoping I can just keep up with it. My problem is if I miss even one day I feel like a failure so then I quit. Something I shouldn't do - we all have bad days. Just have to know that the next day will be better and you'll get back to your working out routine! As in today - I was hoping to get up early and do aerobics. It didn't happen. I had to get up early so that the kids and I could be at their school by 8:45. They were having a volunteer breakfast for all of the volunteers so I had to go. Which meant all of us getting up earlier then we normally do and our routine being totally out of whack. I do plan on doing my 5 Day Abs tape at some point today so it won't be a total wash!

I am at post # 501 with this post right here! Wow!!!! That's alot of posts! I've had this blog now for 2 years I think? I have so many blogs it's hard to remember. I'm actually going to downscale so that I only have 3 blogs instead of 5. It's just too much work and half the stuff I write in one I could also write in another if that makes sense.

The other day I was thinking about how much stuff I've actually blogged about the past few years! I've blogged about my family, friends, services, websites, reviews, appliances, real estate, neighbors, vacations and even a business list broker. So many topics! Blogging is fun though! Not only is it like a diary for yourself, but it's also a way to keep friends and family members informed of what's going on in your life. When you're a mother of 3 very active kids, it's not always easy to keep up with friends and family via phone or even email. So blogging helps alot!

So, I started working on my 1st health challenge this morning by going for a nice walk. My next challenge is to start drinking loads of water everyday! And to have it drank by 6pm so I'm not up all night having to go to the bathroom. So far today I've only drank 16.9 ounces. Not too good considering it's already 12:25pm. I know what I need to do - wake up in the morning and just fill up my water bottle and start drinking. Maybe if I keep the water bottle next to the coffee maker in the kitchen that will remind me? So that when I'm making the kids lunches every morning I see it and will fill it up and start drinking.(?) Alright, I'll try that tomorrow morning and see how it works!

A few weeks back was the NFL Football draft right? Did anyone happen to sit their and watch the entire thing? My brother used to - not sure if he still does. He'd make sure he was all set beforehand, have a pen and paper to keep track and would literally sit there and watch the whole thing!!!! Me? No, I didn't watch one minute of it. I love football, but not that much. I figure once it's done I can go to the computer and see who my favorite team just got. It's funny because when it comes to making our football picks for the football pool we're always both in, we go about that differently too. He reads the stats, sees who is hurt, etc. and goes from there. I just go down the line and go by the spread and if I think they can do it or not. It usually takes me about 2 minutes to do my picks. I'm sure it takes my brother longer.

I did it! I got the kids on the bus, went up to our local park and walked for an hour! How far I walked I'm not 100% sure because there's no signs on the trail stating how long the trail actually is, but, I'm guessing since I usually walk about an 18 minute mile that I walked about 3 something miles! I then came home and did my 5 Minute Abs DVD and am now feeling awesome! Keeping up the habit is going to be the hard part. I'm starting slowly and every Monday and Friday I'll walk. Tuesday and Thursday I'll do aerobics or Yourself Fitness. I figure if I start out slow I won't set myself up for failure.
